2013 Philippine Marathon and Ultramarathon Calendar

Running has never been more alive that it is today in the Philippines.  It is almost unimaginable that, barely three years ago, one could count the number of both short- and long-distance races scheduled each month across the country by the fingers of one hand. Nowadays, this is very far from possible.  Not only has the number of races- from 3Ks to over 200Ks- quadrupled but, also, the running bug has spread like wildfire across the Philippine islands.  

For marathons or 42Ks, there will be roughly two dozen in 2013 (Table 1). For ultramarathons, there will be more than three dozen (Table 2)! For more details about the ultra running boom happening in the Philippines, please visit my analysis HERE.

The more than five dozen long distance running events to choose from in 2013 should keep running enthusiasts in the Philippines busy every weekend. A happy new running year indeed everyone!
